What is this web site?
Meetyourgreens.com is a free dating / matchmaking site for singles who are interested in meeting others in a friendly, safe, and non-sleazy environment. The site offers personal ads with photos (optional) for dating and friendship.

• I won't give (or sell, or rent) your email address to anyone.
• You only need to reveal what you want to about yourself.
• For your safety there is 'bad word' filtering (to block offensive messages), spam filtering, and so on. (You can always switch off 'bad word' filtering in your incoming messages, via Preferences, if you want to get wild).
• All member Profiles are checked by software and by a human (usually me) to make sure they are reasonably inoffensive. I apply a 'no nudity, no sleaze' policy on the site. (Occasionally I get bleary-eyed and miss something, but only minor things).
• There's a neat Flirt-for-Fun option which has proved very popular. It is a great way to contact people, if you are a wee bit shy.

How does the site work?
You find other singles by searching their Profiles. Your Profile is your personal ad and is how other members can find out about you. (Remember: you only reveal as little, or as much, about yourself as you want). You can easily change your Profile if you later decide you are not happy with it. You also have the option of uploading photos.

You exchange messages with other singles without revealing your email address. Any messages to you are forwarded to the email address that you registered with. The forwarded messages have a link that lets you reply via the web site without the orginator seeing your email address.

How does free membership work?
Unlike most similar services our Free Membership allows you to contact other members. (It is not designed to coax you into paying any kind of subscription). You can leave again at any time by deleting your membership via the Delete Membership option on the Menu Bar when you log in. Join now!

Is there some money-grabbing scheme behind all this? What's the catch?
No, this site is not part of a get-rich-quick scheme. However, the Dating & Relating newsletter sent out to the membership includes some relevant adverts (though, the site itself has no commercial adverts) along with the tips, advice and ideas.

My dream is that there will eventually be enough sales via the newsletter that I can work full time on MeetYourGreens (and being able to hire some help would be nice). That's pretty harmless, don't you think?

You get complete access to a safe, fast, secure and reliable dating service and all you have to do in exchange is accept a (weekly) newsletter *chock full of good stuff about Dating & Relating. Not a bad deal!

(*Well at least it will be chock full when I get better at doing newsletters!)

Why call it MeetYourGreens?
Yes, it is an odd choice of name. It is a play on the phrase 'Eat your greens' that mothers in some parts of the world use to entice their kids to ingest what is good for them. The word 'greens' is also used to mean 'ecological' or (amongst my brain cells anyway) to mean 'holistic'. To me 'MeetYourGreens' means a mixture of 'meet someone good for you', and 'meet someone who cares' (about other people, the planet, nature). It can also be seen as metaphor for getting away from unhealthy, junk-food relationships to healthy life-enhancing relationships. However, whatever it means to you is - well, what it means to you!

The name is also an invitation to not take this whole dating and matchmaking thing too seriously. It is much too important to be taken seriously.

What can I do to support this site?
The best way to support it is to get as much as you can from using it. (After all that is why I set it up in the first place). Also, telling your friends about it is much appreciated. (Oh, you could also send me a postcard from your part of the world - with a nice view on it - address below).

Is there anyone else from my country/city/area on the site?
Our membership is very international, so we have singles from many different countries on the site. We have people from United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and so forth. The English speaking parts of the world are well-represented as you would expect. However, we also have people from India, Ukraine, Russia, China, Brazil and so on. If you would like to see more people from your area, the best thing to do is to recommend the site to a friend. Your friend will then recommend it to their friends - until next thing you know you have lots and lots of people to choose from!

This applies to geographical areas as well as areas of interest. If you want to find more friends or singles who share your particular interests, invite a friend to join (one who does shares your interests) and the same thing will happen. They will invite their friends and again you will soon get lots of people to choose from!

Will I have lots of adverts flashing on my screen, because I haven't paid anything?
No, no, there are no plans to have banner adverts, popup windows, or any of that annoying stuff. This is not that kind of site.
